NIFT Entrance Exam 2022 - The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has notified that it will not conduct any NIFT 2022 mock seat allotment as was previously scheduled. The institute was earlier slated to conduct a mock seat allotment round on June 1, before the declaration of Round I seat allotment results.

The institute has also released a revised category-wise NIFT counseling schedule. As per the revised schedule, seat allotments will be conducted separately for PwD and non-PwD candidates. For the PwD category, there will be a single seat-allotment round, while for non-PwD categories there will be FIVE seat-allotment rounds. 

The joint seat allocation process is conducted in online mode.

Online registration for NIFT 2022 counseling is currently from May 25-June 4, 2022. Eligible candidates can get registered following the link given below by entering their academic details, uploading documents, and exercising choice-filling.

Earlier the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) had declared the final results of NIFT 2022 on May 17, 2022. 

The final result for the B.Des course is prepared by giving 20% weightage to the Situation Test. The CAT written test carries 50% weightage, while GAT carries 30% weightage. In the case of UG courses, the GDPI carries 30% weightage. 

The NIFT 2022 exam was conducted in online, remote-proctored mode on February 6, 2022.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts the NIFT entrance exam to shortlist aspirants for admission to its design programs such as Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech). NIFT entrance exam is three-tiered in its format for BDes and MDes course admissions. The National Institute of Design has released the final result for NIFT 2022 on May 17, 2022. To prepare the final merit list, the admission committee will consider the performance of the candidate in the Situation Test/ GDPI and written tests (GAT and CAT).

The final merit list will be used to shortlist candidates for NIFT 2022 counseling and seat allotment process. Candidates who are ranked higher in the merit list will get preference during seat allotment.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology declared the results of the NIFT 2022 result for the CAT and GAT written test on March 9, 2022. The result was released in online mode at the official website of NIFT - nift.ac.in. Note that no hard copies are sent to the candidate. 

NIFT 2022 scores is used to shortlist candidates for the situation test/group discussion and personal interview round, which will be conducted in April 2022. Note that all shortlisted candidates need to register for the situation test/ GDPI by the given deadline.

The situation test for the B.Des program was conducted from April 2-5 in offline mode. Candidates who have qualified in the NIFT 2022 written tests (GAT and CAT) and participated in the choice filling process were eligible to participate in the situation test. The choice filling was conducted from March 14-31. As part of the choice filling process, candidates had to select their choice of participating institutes in the order of priority.

The GDPI was for the Master's programs was held from April 7-27. For the M.Des program, candidates were shortlisted for the GDPI based on the GAT and CAT written exams. However, for MFTech and MFM courses, candidates are shortlisted based on GAT scores. Mode of Situation Test / GDPI - Offline

Reservation of Seats

The reservation of seats for candidates falling under various categories in the NIFT Entrance Test is as follows:

NIFT is popular all over the country for its design, management, and technology programmes on offer at its 17 centres. Candidates are eligible to secure admission at NIFT on the basis of the ranks they secure in the entrance test. The steps that candidates need to follow in order to secure admission in any design course offered at the 17 NIFT campuses are mentioned below.

NIFT Selection Process 2022

Step 1: Fill NIFT Application Form 2022

Candidates need to fill NIFT Entrance Exam application form online on the official website of the design school. Candidates need to pay their application fee by credit/debit card or the same can be paid by means of a Demand Draft (DD). Applicants are advised to keep a printout/ photocopy of their NIFT Entrance Exam application form for reference along with proof of payment. 

Step 2: Download NIFT Admit Card

After duly filling the application forms, candidates need to download their NIFT Entrance Exam admit card from the official website of NIFT. It may be noted that candidates have to download their admit card from the official website only and no hard copy of the hall ticket will be sent to them by Post. 

Step 3: Appear for NIFT Entrance Exam 2022

As part of the NIFT Entrance Test, candidates are evaluated on different parameters such as aptitude, skills, and knowledge. Due to this, the NIFT entrance exam is divided into four sections – Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), Situation Test, and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview. Step 4: Appear for NIFT Situation Test or GD/PI

Candidates who clear the NIFT entrance exam for BDes course admission then need to appear for the Situation Test round wherein their material handling skills are tested. On the other hand, aspirants taking the design entrance exam for MDes course admission need to appear for the Group Discussion/Personal Interview round. The situation test/ GD/ PI admission round is usually conducted in April-May every year.

Step 5:  Check NIFT Entrance Exam Result

The final NIFT results are displayed on the official website of the design college. Candidates can view their results for NIFT admission by filling their roll number on the official website. Final results for NIFT admissions are usually declared in the month of May/June, every year.

Step 6:  Appear for NIFT Counselling

Candidates are called for the NIFT counselling process as per their rank in NIFT entrance exam 2022. A separate counselling process is conducted for different design course admissions. NIFT authorities have a centralised counselling process for NIFT admission to different design programmes. 

Candidates seeking admission under the Foreign Nationals/ SAARC/NRIs category do not need to appear for the NIFT entrance exam in order to secure admission in design courses offered at NIFT campuses. Admission in design courses offered at NIFT under the Foreign Nationals/ SAARC/NRIs category is as per the below-mentioned criteria:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has released the answer keys for the objective-based GAT question paper 2022 on February 21, 2022. It contains the official answers to all the questions in the entrance exam and can be used by the candidate to calculate probable scores. Along with the answer key, the OMR answer sheet also will be released. Note that candidates were allowed to carry the GAT question paper with them after completion of the NIFT 2022 entrance exam.

Candidates who have any objections against the OMR answer sheet, answer key, or question paper can raise objections/ observations on payment of a fee of Rs. 500 per observation/ objections. The final answer key will be released after considering all such observations/ objections.

How to download NIFT 2022 answer key for GAT

• Click on the answer key link
• Enter log-in credentials like Roll Number, program, Question Booklet No, and Date of Birth
• On successful log-in, you can download the answer key. 

The National Institute of Fashion Technology has extended the last date for taking the mandatory mock tests to February 4; the extension has been done to accommodate candidates who haven't yet taken the mock tests. Originally, the NIFT 2022 mock tests were scheduled from February 1-3, 2022. These mock tests are conducted to help the candidate get familiar with the new exam pattern, understand various functionalities, including navigation. However, the questions asked and the test duration may be different from what will be asked in the actual exam. The mock tests will also help candidates test their exam infrastructure readiness.

During the NIFT 2022 mock tests, the candidates will also be able to ask queries related to the exam. A hotline will be created by exam officials to answer student queries. 

• The mock tests are compulsory for all candidates
• These tests will be held for all the courses on specific dates in two sessions - morning and evening
• Candidates will be put in groups based on their roll numbers.
• Invigilators / AI will not block access to the system during the mock test even though there is a system breach/ disconnection, etc. 

The admit cards for the exam will be available for download from January 29, 2022. The admit card has to be downloaded online by entering one's login credentials. An essential document for appearing in the design entrance exam, the admit card will contain details like the name, roll number, name and address of the allotted NIFT exam center 2022, and exam-day guidelines. On the day of the exam, the candidate must bring with them a valid photo id proof along with the admit card.

How to dowload the NIFT 2022 admit card

3. Enter your six digit application number, email id and DOB
4. On login, the admit card will be displayed in downloadable pdf format
5. Download and take a printout of the admit card.

Note: Check that the details mentioned in the admit card are correct, including your name. In case there is any discrepancy in the admit card, you need to get in touch with officials and get it rectified.

Given there are only a couple of weeks before the conduct of the NIFT 2022 entrance exam, you must ensure that there is no let-up in your preparation. Make sure that you do timely revision, go through all the important points, solve sample papers and problem sets. Revision is the key in this phase, and you must stay from starting any new topic. But be mindful not to go overboard and miss on your sleep and rest, because it will take a heavy toll on your body and mind. Instead, eat healthy food, stay dehydrated, do some light exercise, stay happy and in a positive frame of mind.

The eligibility criteria for NIFT admissions vary from course to course. Candidates need to meet NIFT eligibility criteria 2022 in order to appear for the NIFT entrance exam.

Candidates should have completed their Class 12 from a recognised board with passing marks to be eligible to appear for the NIFT entrance exam 2022. Aspirants should be below 23 years of age for NIFT admission 2022.

Aspirants should have completed their Class 12 from a recognised board wherein they have studied subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates should have secured passing marks in their Class 12 exam.

Candidates should have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognised institute of the university. There is no age limit criteria for NIFT admission in the MDes course.

Aspirants should have pursued BFTech course at the undergraduate level to be eligible for MFTech course admissions. There is no age limit criteria for NIFT admission in MFTech course.

NIFT Exam Centres 2022

NIFT Entrance Exam centre details are released before the exam is conducted. The design entrance exam is usually conducted in 32 cities across India. Candidates can select only one exam city at the time of filling the NIFT application form. However, the official website of the exam informs that NIFT reserves the right to cancel any of the examination centres without any prior notice. In such a case, an alternate centre, which is locationally and administratively convenient, is allotted to an aspirant.
